The Panda Puzzle

Do you like books that have kids that solve mysteries?

Well the book I am going to tell you about is called The Panda Puzzle by Ron Roy. And it has three kids that solve mysteries!The three kids names are Dink, Ruth Rose and Josh. In the book they go to panda park together. In panda park the day before they went a new baby panda arrived. The next day when they did go to panda park the mother panda ran out of the cave and banged on the fence BANG! And the kids did not know why she banged on the fence.Then when everybody left the kids found a fishing knife and an alarm clock.And they found the fishing knife lying in the bamboo in the panda cage. Then they knew somebody stole the baby panda!Because the baby panda was gone! And they wanted to find out the mystery of the stolen baby panda.And who stole it.    

I think Ruth Rose is good at finding clues Like when they found a fishing knife lying in the bamboo.And she does not give up because in the book she really wanted to find out who stole it. And I think Josh tells little jokes.And he does not like to watch his little brothers. And Dink keeps track of things they find. Like when they ask Flip some questions and Dink wrote it down in his notebook. Flip is a character who they think stole the baby panda. And he makes health shakes.   

I also think you should read the book to find out who stole the baby panda.And I think you will like this book because you might like books that have mysterious characters.  

I like mystery books because they have surprises.And they are mysterious. Find out who stole the baby panda in the book the Panda Puzzle by Ron Roy. HAPPY READING! By     Ava!

Esio Trot

If you like turtles then I think you should read the book Esio Trot , by Roald Dahl. In this book there are three main characters: Mr. Hoppy, Mrs. Silver, and Alfie the turtle.  Mr. Hoppy lives      on the balcony above Mrs. Silver and her best friend Alfie.  But Mrs. Silver wishes that Alfie would get just a little bit bigger, and says she will do anything to get Alfie bigger, and all of the sudden  Mr. Hoppy get’s a great idea. I think Mr. Hoppy is nice and also a trickster.

I like Mr. Hoppy because he is nice for an example when he says to Alfie: “Alfie is looking well this morning” that is nice because it is nice comment . And another example of Mr. Hoppy being nice is when he writes her the letters of what to say to get the turtle bigger. And another example is when he says “Absolutely gorgeous”, that is nice because it would feel good for somebody  to give you that comment. And He is a trickster for an example when he goes to every pet store in town and bys turtles that look like Alfie but weigh a little bit more, and look the same to get turtles to switch them with Alfie, so Mrs. Silver thinks he is growing.

And another example is when he gives Mrs. Silver the magic words, and says that they will make Alfie get bigger, but, when he is switches the turtles .

In conclusion if you like books with tricksters and nice characters in them then read this book.

The Ghost Witch

Jenny saw the ghost which and got scared !The Ghost witch by Betty Ren Wright is about a girl who has to move into a house that has a ghost witch in it she was scared at first but in the end she was not scared. I think this book is scary with the ghost witch in it

Jenny is scared and brave for example Jenny is scared when she goes in miss nagles haws .The door opened and Jenny had not touched it at all. Jenny is brave when she decides to go in miss nagles haws again.Jenny is brave when she goes to the last  door of  the haws. she is scared when she opens the last door of the haunted haws. Jenny is scared when she sees the dragon in the mirror! Jenny is scared when she sees the  Ghost Witch imagine how scary that is. What is scarier than a Ghost?............ a Ghost of a Witch!                                                                                                                                            

As you can see Jenny is brave and scared if you like books with characters that are scared and brave you might like the Ghost witch.

Ramona's World

Aaahhh…..Went the noise of Ramona’s baby sister Roberta’s screaming.

She was stuck in a Kitty Condo (Which is a furry box that cats like to hang out in.)

because like her sister Ramona she was silly and she did silly things a lot. Ramona was cat sitting for her best friend Daisy.

Ramona used to have a cat when she was little named Picky-Picky, but he died, and she missed having a cat around.

Ramona’s 9 and in 4th grade.

This book is called Ramona’s World written by: Beverly Cleary.

                                  

Ramona is very silly like I said before, for example: She thinks that her teacher is mean because she made Ramona do spelling when she’s bad at it.

Ramona is also silly she thinks that people don’t like her and she thinks that because she made a sheet to tell her teacher (because Ramona doesn’t know anything about her teacher and her teacher doesn’t know anything about Ramona.) about herself and she got some words wrong, and her teacher Mrs. Meacham was putting her words that she got wrong on the whiteboard and her teacher was saying that she wouldn’t want people to think she was writing things other people wouldn’t understand what she was saying, for example: Mrs.Meacham said you wouldn’t want someone to think that you were on a coach instead of a couch which she wrote, and everybody was laughing at her and Ramona thought that Mrs. Meacham did that on purpose so everyone would laugh at her because she didn’t like her.

And this is only 2 examples about how Ramona is silly even though most of the book is about all kinds of funny things that everyone does!

So if you like funny books with silly people in them read Ramona’s World or any of the books with Ramona in them like…..

Ramona the Pest, or Ramona the Brave, or maybe Ramona Forever, or Ramona Quimby age 8, there are much more books that Beverly Cleary writes with Ramona in them, so these are only a few of them.           

So in conclusion, I think that if you like books with funny characters you should read Ramona’s World. And these are my reasons on how Ramona Quimby is silly, so if you like  books with people that are silly you should read Ramona’s World.

Midnight

Do you like books with brave characters? Well then you will love Midnight by Erin Hunter!!

In this book Brambleclaw and five other cats go on a adventure to find out what is going to happen to the forest.  Their names are Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw from ThunderClan. Stormfur and Feathertail from RiverClan. Tawnypelt from ShadowClan and Crowpaw from WindClan. In their adventure they go over mountains and through Twolegplace well there they are guided by Purdy a cat. When they get past Twolegplace they find a forest then a moorland                     and then the sundrown place.

Brambleclaw and Stormfur are brave because they both went to the sundrown place that is brave because there is very strong rushing water.That is also brave because it is a long way from home. Brambleclaw and Stormfur are also brave because they both snuck out of camp that is brave because they can get punished by their leaders and getting punished is bad.

I think you will like Midnight because books with brave characters I think are good and it is about cats.Brambleclaw and Stormfur are really brave.What other brave characters might you find besides Brambleclaw and Stormfur?

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth

Do you like funny books with great characters in it? Well, if you do you will love Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth!!!by Jeff Kinney. This book is about a boy named Greg who does not have any friends. He goes through trouble in school.He ends up missing this really popular kids party because of his uncles wedding but glad he misses it because he finds out he would of just been a servant. In the end he gets back up with his old friend.

In the beginning it is summer and he is having a lot of trouble with the friends because one person will pull his pants down in public, another person will swat at all of the flies (which is a good thing) but Greg is thinking that he is only a summer friend. He is annoyed at this part because he has no year round friends.    

 In the middle he goes through a lot of trouble like when his school does not have enough money to buy new math books each year so when Greg does his math there are doodles all over the math problems so it is hard for him to do math. He is also feeling annoyed here because he can’t do math.

He is also annoyed when his mom goes back to school and so his dad has to help him with his homework and he keeps getting very frustrated with it and also when his mom is away they have to heat up old food and when it was Rodrick's (Rodrick is Greg’s big brother) turn to heat it up he just pretended to heat up Gregs meat balls up so when he bites one it is still frozen.He is also annoyed here because if people try to help him they either annoys  him more or he just get confused.  

In the end his uncle gets married (a 3rd time) and everybody is hugging and kissing him and he has to find places to wipe the kisses off (like the curtain). He is also annoyed here because he does not like getting hug and kisses.

As you can see Greg is annoyed a lot in the book. I hope you read this great 117 paged book Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney. I love this book because I think that the characters are funny and  I hope you do too!

Our classes participated in the #StudentLife Challenge today, connecting with other classrooms around the world.  #StudentLife, the brainchild of Wisconsin teacher Pernille Ripp, is a worldwide opportunity for students to show what a school day looks like from a student's perspective.

The day begins by hanging up snow pants...ready for recess in a few hours!

We officially start the day with a greeting at Morning Meeting.  All are welcome here...

#RESreads lots of books...glad today is library day!

A gathering of 3rd graders for team play practice.  It's our first day "off script"!

(Come watch our performance of "It's Electrifying" on February 18, 2015 at 5:00pm.)

In Library for our first special.  We're learning about book trailers for our opinion writing unit final pieces.

Espanol is our second special.  We're fortunate to have Spanish starting in Kindergarten.

We're using array cards to learn multiplication facts with friends.

We're working on strategies and keeping track of the facts "we know" and the ones we're "working on".

Bundling up for outdoor recess.  It's 11* and sunny...a heat wave!

Reading with our minds on fire, jotting out thoughts on sticky notes.

Practicing cursive letters--an exciting "write" of 3rd grade!

Froggy is our class beta fish.  He entertains us with his swimmy ways!

Learning the language of electric circuits and drawing circuit diagrams in Science class.

We wait patiently to put our Chromebooks away--this is one way we Respect Others at RES.

At the end of the day, papers go into Home-School folders so they don't get lost (at the bottom of backpacks)!

Umbrella Summer

Dear reader,

this is a really good book do you mind if I tell you about it? it is called Umbrella Summer.  Umbrella summer is by: Lisa Graff.  In Umbrella Summer there are these two girls

named

Annie and Rebecca. Annie and Rebecca work together a lot.

Annie is having a hard time right now because her brother died. he was playing ice hockey and a puck hit him on his heart and he got really sick and died. Just recently Annie’s friend Rebecca her hamster  was acting weird and they brought her hamster named: Fuzzby to the vet.  The vet said that Fuzzby was very sick.  In  the morning they found out that Fuzzby was dead.

Annie and Rebecca have fun with each other for example like when  they were trying to distract the old lady so the old lady would not see what they were doing. They were trying to see what is in the haunted house. I think Annie and Rebecca work together a lot.  Annie and Rebecca worked together when they were washing out Fuzzby’s  cage. They also work together by figuring out what was in the haunted house.  Annie and Rebecca are a team.

wasn't  this a great book you should read it to find out what happens next.

The Boxcar Children

Dear Reader,

I like to read books,and I also know YOU like to read books.  So I wont to tell you about

The Boxcar Children by: GERTRUDE CHANDLER WARNER {A series of books}.  In the story, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny have no home, They find a boxcar in the woods and  make it home.  Henry gets money , So they can get food.  Jessie and Violet clean the dishes they found in the woods.  And Benny justs plays in the woods.  They work together to have fun and have a good time in the woods.  But then they find… Grandfather!!!! [Book 1]   I think the authors message is you should WORK TOGETHER a LOT!

During The Boxcar Children book one, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny have no home and they find a boxcar in the woods, they help each other build a boxcar into… a HOME!!!     

This shows “WORK TOGETHER” because they BUILDED IT TOGETHER.   

During The Boxcar Children book two, Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny are out of school for the summer and they go to Surprise island, they go to a barn that they will stay in, they do stuff so it is basically there home, like making a museum in the barn, they WORKed TOGETHER to make it like home.  This shows “WORK TOGETHER” because they BUILDED IT TOGETHER.

This is only two ways they work together, and their is meny more ways they work together.  I hope you have a good time reading!!! :)

Fudge-a-Mania

Dear  reader ,

I think Fudge  -a-  Mania  is the best book ever!   In the entire book history!   I think this is the best book ever because it has things that will never happen in the real world like a 5 year old marrying a 12 year old!!   isn't  that  hilarious!!!!   Anyway I am reading Fudge-a-Mania by Judy Blume.   Have you read any Judy Blume books?  Well If you do.  You should read Fudge-a-Mania!   Fudge is a really funny 5 year old.   His older brother Peter is 12.  Sheila is also 12.   Mizi is 5.   Fudge said he was going to marry Sheila!!   Peter has to spend the summer with his arch enemy Sheila Tubman!!   Will he survive summer?  Read this book to find out!!

Judy Moody is In a Mood, Not a Good Mood, But a Bad One

Dear reader,

I heard you like to bury yourself in book’s.  Well you can bury yourself  in this one!

I’m reading a really good book it’s called Judy Moody is In A Mood Not A Good Mood But A Bad One by Megan Mcdonald illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds.

Let’s start burying our self in the book.  Judy was in her bed she was feeling a bad mood inside her.  She never wanted summer to end even the smell of her grumpy pencil’s wouldn’t wake her up! And she also Knew that on the first day of school everyone would wear knew t-shirts that were from cool places like sea world or disney land or any other cool place and they also would have a sentence or a word that would go with the picture! her mom peaked in her room and said ‘time to wake up it’s the first day of school!’ said her mom in excitement Judy knew her feeling’s and this was not a good one. ‘ ROAR! ’ Said Judy her mother peaked in Judy’smessy room once again ‘come on sleepy head get dressed.’ Judy knew she had no choice so she carried herself out of bed lugged down stair’s and flopped down in her chair at the kitchen table.

I think Judy is in a is in a grumpy bad mood because she knew summer was over.   I also think she was kinda mad when her mother tried to wake her up on the first day of school.  

Some examples of Judy being in the worst most horrible mood there is on the planet is when she would not wake up and even the smell of her grumpy pencil’s wouldn’t wake her up. And she also said ROAR  to her own mother! Those are only some examples of the horrible mood that belongs to Judy Moody.   this is the best book ever because it can give connection when you are in a bad mood!  these examples connect to my opinion Because they show Judy being in a bad mood and my opinion tell’s what I think about why Judy’s in her horrible mood.

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

Dear Reader January 27,2015

I have been reading this book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.  By Judy Blume.   I thought that you would want to know about it.   It’s really funny and good. I like it because it close to my grade.  I am giving you this reatell of my book cause i thought you would like the book.

In Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing First  he wins a Turtle,  but his mom said owning a turtle is a lot of work. But Peter gets to keep the turtle.   And that day Peter’s dad Mike Warren Hatcher anouced that his friends were coming to stay at their  little apartment for a week.   And that ment that Peter had to sleep in Fudge’s room for a week witch he hates because Fudge  makes noises when he sleeps.  Finally Peters dad friends leave because Fudge won’t stop being bad and so they just leave after breakfast.  Then Sheila comes in to the story.The Auther discribed Sheila as weird, mean ,acts like a preschooler.  And Peter can’t stand Sheila.   But this is the this Sheila lives in Peter’s apartment above him.

Then Peter and his friend Jimmy Fargo go to the park to play secret agent at this speicl rock they found but when they get to the rock Sheila is there so they say get of our rock we found it first but Sheila refused to get down.  Then when fudge came running by Peter knew that his mom was there. About 2 seconds later his mom stoped and said hi.   So then Sheila opened her mouth and said,oh mrs.  Hatcher you have got to let me watch Fudge but Peters mom was not shere she wanted to leave here little boy with such a yough girl.  so she left Sheila,   Jimmy and Peter in charge but Sheila gofed off when Fudge climbed up on the playground.   But he thought he could fly but he can’t of course he can’t he is a humand.  He jumped of the highest point of the playground and landed on the ground Sheila,Jimmy and Peter could hear Fudge crying and ran over.  He had blod all over his body and when he told Peter what happend Peter saw something that was missing.   Fudge’s to front teeth were missing.  Jimmy paniked and went to go get Peters mom they came back quick.

I really think what the Auther is trying to say is always be a good brother.

At the end Peter realizes that little brothers can be good after all.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

dear reader,

i,am going to share a book i read. It  is diary of a wimpy kid the long haul .In the book his mom told the  family they were going on a road trip.  So its  about a crazy road  trip. In the book greg had to share his shoe .Also had to sleep in a really bad hotel too. Will he survive the car trip.

 Diary of a wimpy kid the long haul is  also about   you never know what is going to happen on a trip .Because Greg had to sit in the back of the car with lots of bags and some more stuff like that.Plus he also  had to deal with some kids who were ramming into a wall with a cleaning  cart .And he told them to stop. And one of the kids  got his dad to  get Greg. Because greg made the kid cry too.

Judy Moody Gets Famous

Dear Reader

Have you ever heard of Judy Moody?  Well I’m reading Judy Moody Gets Famous by Megan McDonald. In the book,Judy want’s to get famous, It all starts out with Jessica wins the spelling bee and gets a crown and wheres it all morning when she has nothing to put in the “Moody hall of fame”.  Also to make it worse,in spelling she keeps on talking , gets called on and does not know the word and so she guesses the word and gets it wrong and in science, her mealworm sails across the class and landed on not the teacher but Miss Queen Bee,Jessica.  Judy forgets about getting in trouble and waves her hand at Jessica. (the mealworm is on her pony tail!)Then it starts. the bad day. Days later, She tries to get famous by winning the pet show but instead she sees her elbow  in the paper.  And she tries breaking the worlds record.  And instead she  brakes Frank’s finger while stink is annoying and petrified .  At the hospital they meet a   girl whose name is Laura and her heart has to be replaced.  She finds dolls that needed to be fixed or mended . Then in the hallway she asks Stink for his backpack and tells Stink to tell their Mom that she forgot something. She  brings the dolls home to fix without her parents knowing because she would be in trouble.With Stink she fixed them with making hospital gowns,hair,slings and casts. she mailed the dolls back to the hospital .  And then later on, Jessica asked her if she  wants to come and play. She decided to go and play if she got to put Jessica’s arm in a cast. she goes to her house and starts ripping up a sheet of paper then she saw four words they were,PHANTOM,STRIKES and HOSPITAL.She goes home and sees her family reading the paper .Will Judy get famous or be grounded?

I think Judy Moody is very good at connecting with because Megan Mcdonald makes Judy’s moods Just like regular moods with other kids. Like the evil eye and being loud here are some examples , in the book Judy gets mad because she has nothing to put on the fridge and because her brother has a LOT of stuff on it.Also when judy’s  brother got her spelling word right  and she got her spelling word wrong. I would not want that! Also in the book Judy got irritated with Jessica Finch,(or Flink as Judy likes to call her!)won the N.V. spelling bee when she had nothing to the fridge( Judy has not good thoughts about that!)

I hope you get a time to read this book because it is a great story about a creative third grade girl who likes to have fun also.
